Plastics and acrylic surfaces perform a wide variety of applications in todays society in place of more traditional substrates such as aluminium. One of the disadvantages however is that the this material can be scratched and damaged relatively easily.

Manufacturers therefore prefer to protect their products from scratches and damage by applying a protection film to the surface of their acrylic sheeting so that it can go on for further processing without the need for scrapping.
